Switch
to a Li Ion Rechargeable Battery for Better
Performance
When it comes to batteries, nothing can
beat the performance of a lithium ion rechargeable
battery (Li Ion Rechargeable Battery, or Li-Ion
Rechargeable Battery, for short). These maintain their
charge longer than many other types of batteries, and
they have a variety of uses.
The lithium ion battery will often cost
more than the other types of batteries, but they are of
higher value for your products that use
batteries.
One important item to note is that most
lithium ion batteries, obviously, are rechargeable.
Although you can get rechargeable alkaline batteries, the
li ion rechargeable batteries have more storage capacity
to run your products when they are fully
charged.

Although
you may be aware of lithium batteries, because
they are the ones that most manufacturers tell
you to use in electronic devices, they are not
rechargeable; only the lithium ion batteries
are rechargeable.
A basic difference between li-ion
rechargeable batteries and
alkaline batteries (the typical batteries
you buy in the story) is that you can only
use the alkaline batteries one time. They
start off doing very well and they have a
pretty long life, but they eventually will
wear down and you'll have to buy new
ones.

 |
With the lithium ion batteries, they
start out with a longer life and have a stronger charge
for a longer time. As they wear down you just have to
recharge them to get more life from
them.
The reason that many people have
switched to lithium ion batteries is because they work
the best in portable technology. As an example, most
people use the lithium ion battery in their portable DVD
player or other
electronic device because it will hold a charge
longer.
The li-ion rechargeable battery will
often give you twice the amount of runtime that you would
get from a regular battery. Also, these batteries are
generally designed so that they recharge in your
electronic device so you won't have to put them in a
specific charger.
|
|
Another
advantage of these is that they have a longer
shelf life than other batteries do. They last
10-20% (depending on the type you choose)
longer than other
batteries.
One
frustration relating to lithium ion batteries
is that they currently only come in a few
sizes, so you may not always find them for your
particular device. Expect this to change in the
near term, as lithium ion batteries are being
demanded more and more by
consumers.
|
|
Depending on the type of
battery and what you want to use it for, li-ion
rechargeable batteries can be more expensive
than alkaline brands -- in fact, the average
lithium ion battery pack will cost you about
$25 overall.
However,
factor in the life of the lithium ion
rechargeable battery, and I know you will
believe it to be worth the
cost.
